Spring Fling in Dawsonville and Buford Plein Air

I participated in the 3rd Annual Historic Buford Paint Out last Friday and Saturday. I had a great time and was delighted to have won a purchase award for one of my paintings done Saturday morning. Here is a small 6 x 8 study I did Saturday afternoon. Our paintings will be displayed in the Tannery Row Artist Colony Gallery for the next month. Drop by and see them if you are in the area.
We will be showing our work at the "Spring Fling" in downtown Dawsonville, this weekend, May 2 and 3 from 10 until 5. The event will be around the Bowen Center and the Dawson County Middle School. There are a lot of events such as a 5K and 10K run, a car show, bike ride, and music. Please come by see what we have been working on.

John Poon Workshop

I have been busy trying to prepare a slide show presentation for an Artists Bootcamp at the Atlanta Artists Center on Saturday, March 28. I have also been working on getting a portfolio together to present to a gallery tomorrow so I have not been doing a lot of painting. I did paint a couple of plein air pieces last week when we took a trip to Albany.
Next week is going to be a busy week. I am taking a second workshop with John Poon. I did a workshop with him last October and he was such a wonderful instructor that everyone who attended wanted to get him back. That will be from Monday through Friday and then I am painting in a plein air paint out in Blue Ridge on Saturday and Sunday.
I should have a lot of paintings to add to the blog after I get back.

Margarita

This painting is in the March show at the Atlanta Artists Center. It is one of a series of still lives I painted in December and January when it was too cold to get outdoors. It was set up and painted from life.

Roscoe

Well, finally it got warm and dry enough to photograph some of the new pieces painted in the last week or two.
This little cow painting was a real blast to paint. His name is Roscoe. Hope you like him too.

Welcome

This cat was napping on the front porch of a house where we were painting during a workshop. I just loved the texture of the fur against the wicker and the complimentary colors of the orange againt the blue.
